According to a Ministerial announcement, the Spanish government will initiate a series of auctions with tender information expected to be launched sometime during 2023. It is anticipated that ~235 substations will be included in the auction. Currently the power available in the substations published by the Secretary of State is around 120 GW, an historic amount compared with previous tenders. It is expected that the Spanish government will divide the substations into various auctions to ensure an orderly installation of renewable generation. SES through its cooperation partners has already secured and signed contracts covering a potential portfolio of approx. 4GW in the vicinity of various base stations (meaning future lower inter-connection costs). Due to excellent strategical work, SES and its cooperating partners has carefully chosen some of the best lands available in connection with the public auction (location, potential usage, low environmental impact etc.). The portfolio held by SES includes both solar PV projects, as well as wind -and hybrid projects. SES is currently negotiating with various potential partners for co-development in connection with the upcoming auction. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if your company could be interested to partner up with SES.
In connection with the upcoming Spanish public auction, Solar Energy Structure continues to secure more high-quality projects all over the country. The company estimates to secure approx. a total of 4GW with excellent projects connected with the auction.
It is expected that the government will divide the substations into various auctions to ensure an orderly installation of renewable generation, when the reserved capacity exceeds 10 GW, several auctions may be held in the maximum period of six months between them.
Due to excellent strategical work, SES and its cooperating partners has carefully chosen some of the best lands available in connection with the public auction (location, potential usage, low environmental impact etc.). SES is looking forward to seeing the auction get lifted shortly and continue prepare the projects in the months ahead.
The total consideration of the transaction is expected at approx. 15M€. Payments according to various milestones. First milestone is already completed upon closing of SPA.
SES is proud to announce the sales and completion of definitive agreements to sell up to 90MW across 3 solar projects to a listed European IPP-holder.
SES has executed a binding Sales Purchase Agreement (“SPA”) to sell projects at ready-to-build (RTB) status. The projects are at mid stage development and are anticipated to reach RTB status sometime during 2025 subject to permitting and suitable grid connection conditions. SES will be responsible for all activities and costs to achieve these milestones prior to closing. The projects are estimated to achieve Commercial Operation Date (COD) during 2026. Given the strong positive and predictable cashflows from these projects over the long term, SES expects to be able re-invest the funds into new projects in the Iberian market.
Speaking about the transaction, Kjetil Torper, COO in SES, said:
“This transaction once again shows SES’s successful business model that underpins our growth. SES has one of the most exciting portfolios in the Iberian market, and the best way of proofing so is another closing to a highly valued client and listed company in Europe. We look forward to progressing our pipeline in Spain to energisation and contributing to the ambitious Spanish renewable transition.”
